Bored?
January 24, 2026
Folks, I’ve been asked if I ever get bored, just hanging around with my missus and the ol’ man.
Short answer: No way.
Longer answer: How could I? There’s always something going on that keeps me busy. And if there isn’t, I take full advantage of the opportunity to snooze the day away. Actually, we dogs grab a shut-eye whenever we can, so we are fully rested and ready for whatever adventure comes along. You think we’re sound asleep, but we’re always alert to special sounds and smells around us.
How many times do you think I’ve heard my ol’ man put on his shoes, and I’m right there, ready to go on a walk? When the freezer door opens, even if I’m three rooms away, I’m at my missus’ side when the ice cream appears. A dog walks down the street, and I’m up from my nap and over by the door, barking at the intruder passing by. UPS drives past, and I know it. A knock on the door, and I’m there. How could any dog in their right mind be bored with all that activity?
Want to go for a ride in the car? That is a no brainer. Of course I do. We get to look out the window. We go somewhere to do something. That’s a change of pace, an adventure, something exciting to be part of. Sometimes, my folks both leave me home alone. But that’s not boring. I get the run of the house, slouching onto whatever chair or bed or couch feels most comfortable at the moment. I keep an eye on intruders, neighborhood dogs and anything out of the ordinary.
You ask what’s the best part of being home alone? It’s when my folks come back. Then I’m dancing at the door, a smile on my face, eager for them to come inside and sit down which creates a lap which means I’m welcome to leap on their laps and get rubbed and patted, then jump to the other one, back and forth, rubbed and patted and spoken to, until we three all calm down. And then I go back to my post on the fluffy blanket on the bed in the guest room in the sunshine and relax.
Who could be bored with all that?
Kutter

Thank you, Sandy.
Yes, Kutter has a good thing going. We took him out for a 30-second walk in the snow which lasted about half that time. Guess he doesn't like snow any better than rain!
See you soon.
Such a good life. Sigh.
