Bruce Springsteen is an Amazing, Authentic, American hero.
We caught the Boss at Boston Garden, aka TD North, along with thousands of other fans on Sunday evening. The memory of Springsteen’s concert will live on, as have the many times we’ve seen him before. His concerts are amazing.
My daughters Amy and Jill, and Jill’s husband Curt hopped the train in New Bedford, found sustenance at the Black Rose then joined the throng for the show. It started on time. Bruce was on stage for three hours. The E Street Band was and is phenomenal. We left exhilarated, enthused, and exhausted.
Bruce is Authentic. He speaks from the heart and sings from the soul. In previous concerts he’s praised the opportunity of growing up and making a little something for himself. He’s honored the soldiers, the workers, the women, the young and the old, the Black and the white, the Natives and immigrants, and the victims of 911. He worships the American experience.
This Land of Hope and Dreams Tour assumes another focus. On the eve of the 2016 election, Bruce urged voters to support Hillary Clinton. Now he is on fire against the fascism, corruption, and fear that the American experience is seriously under siege.
Sitting on the edge of the stage he railed against Trump and his war in Iran. We are better than that, he said, and we have to bring America back.
The concert centered on the ICE murders of Rene Good and Alex Preddi. The Streets of Minneapolis speaks to the brutality of the US government killing American citizens. How much further must we go before fascism rules?
Bruce listed Trump’s illegal, immoral actions against our citizenry, ending each with, “And this is happening in America now.” He emphasized how critical the current political situation is, and urged his followers to stand up to Trump’s political machine.
The songs are great. The band was in good form. The crowd was inspired. The experience lives on. At 76, Bruce Springsteen is an Amazing, Authentic, American hero.

And yes, Amy, Curt, Jill and I (and a few other fans) savored the Black Rose.

So glad you got to go. Also, the pre-concert supper at the Black Rose is a pro move!
Rock on!
