Easter Sunday!
April 5, 2026
Today is Easter Sunday, the holiest of holy days, the day Jesus reportedly rose from the dead.
I’m a dog, and I have faith in the here and now, but I respect those people who have beliefs in the hereafter and wherever. Right now, I just want to enjoy a bit of peace and quiet while my folks are off at church, which they tell me is at the Ag Hall, which is not a church, but so be it.
It’s been a busy weekend. Yesterday was bright and sunny in the morning. My ol’ man took me for a nice long walk, but he brought along a long clothesline. When he wasn’t getting himself tangled in it, I found I could wander a little further ahead or behind him, which was nice.
Later we went for a drive so he could barter a copy of his new book, Historic Storms of Martha’s Vineyard with a friend, Ivan Cox (aka Gerry Yukovich), who wrote Oodles of Rubles! Not sure what that’s all about, but if my ol’ man’s happy, I’m happy.
And my missus was mighty busy yesterday. She always prepares an Easter egg hunt and this year was no exception. Shealyn and Jocelyn each had eight eggs to find. Inside each egg was the clue to a gift. We’ve played this game for years and it always draws squeals of joy when finding a gift. It’s like Christmas in the spring. Lots of fun. And even the adults had a chance to join the hunt. Everyone loves it. And Archie and I were out there too!
Later, my ol’ man asked me to come for a ride in the car to pick up pizza. I’m usually up for a car ride, but it was too windy and chilly for me, so even though he harnessed me up, I chose to stay home.
That’s my prerogative, and I opted to go with it. And I did.
