My 'Hood
June 17, 2025
Folks, sometimes I feel there’s a psychic connection between me and my ol’ man. I know that sounds “out there” but the last couple of days, when we head out on our morning constitutional, I lead the way to the left. That’s a shorter walk, with less wind, and I “feel” my ol’ man needs it. Seriously. And if he didn’t need it, he’d yank me off to the right and go along the water. That’s all.
Folks, I love my ‘hood. It’s got a good vibe, a lot of character. I feel comfortable, friendly and safe. Scroll down to the photo. Isn’t that the best? I’m sitting with my neighbor Martha, waiting on her ol’ man, Steve, to dole out the goodies. Who could ask for anything more?
Sunday was Father’s Day and Esmay and Reggie showed up. We had fun chasing after Esmay, who ran off with one of my stuffed animals. She’s so much calmer than she was. And Reggie is good just hanging around, doing his own thing.
Later, Archie came over as well. He and I love to race around, then, when I’ve hand enough, I just hop on a lap or a chair and take it easy. No need to overdue a good thing. We always hit it off.
Sunday, as I mentioned, was Father’s Day and my ol’ man was rewarded with several gift-cards from various ice cream vendors. What a treat for him! He and my missus went to Mad Martha’s and returned with a doggie cup just for me, as well as their cups, of course. (They never give me the whole cup, but save half for tomorrow, which was today, so I can’t complain.)
Summer dogs are showing up. They make life interesting. Some of them need to be brought into line, but for the most part we get along relatively well, as long as they’re not bigger than me. I have a thing about size. Big dogs need to keep their distance. Anyone my size or smaller is worth getting to know.
All in all, I have no complaints about my ‘hood. Yes, I keep life under control, but the treats and laps, the seats and pats, make it all worthwhile.
